Choose speakers with the room in mind
In-ceiling, in-wall, visible, and outdoor speakers present different mounting and placement considerations. Ceiling access, furniture, room shape, and finish preferences should inform the plan.
A discreet speaker still needs a suitable installation location. Discuss the listening area and practical cable routes before selecting positions solely for visual symmetry. Outdoor equipment must be chosen for its installation environment.
Account for sources and equipment
List the sources you actually use and the ways household members expect to choose music. Supported streaming services, accounts, simultaneous playback, and control-platform integration need to be reviewed for the chosen system.
Amplification, network connections, storage space, power, and ventilation are part of the installation. Keeping equipment out of sight should not make it inaccessible for service or unsuitable for operation.
Separate music distribution from television sound
Background listening and a television or media-room experience may require different designs. If television audio should play through a room’s speakers, specify that use before the system is selected.
